PVP

During the production of the third generation of clones for Shadow Depths Season 3, Arcadian geneticists decided to modify the prefrontal cortex of the clones, enabling them to interact with each other when in caves.

This concept led to the introduction of Player versus Player (PvP) interactions. The concepts behind this aspect of the game are explained below.

PvP is governed by a set of fundamental rules:

  • PvP only begins when a clone reaches level 20. A clone below level 20 cannot interact with other clones.

  • A clone of a given level can only engage with a clone within a 15-level range of its own. For instance, a clone at level 40 can only engage with clones having a level between 25 and 55 (40 +/- 15).

  • Clones must be in the same cave and on the same level to interact.

  • When interacting, clones have two options: Friendly or hostile (more information below).

  • After an interaction, a clone cannot encounter another clone for at least 30 seconds.

  • Each player can also instruct their clone to attempt hiding when another clone is close. This option prevents interaction regardless of the chosen behavior (Friendly/Hostile)

When preparing for exploration, each player has access to the following options:

  1. Friendly: Heal other friendly clones by 10% when meeting them.

  2. Hostile: Engage in combat with other clones, with a chance to steal/lose items in win/lose cases.

  3. Hide: The chance to be spotted by another clone is divided by 5.

A friendly clone will only heal another clone if that clone is also set to the friendly interaction mode. On the other hand, hostile clones will attack both other hostile and friendly clones during encounters.

The probability of one clone encountering another clone is primarily based on the chosen mission mode.

  • Stealth Mode : 3%

  • Normal Mode : 10%

  • Hunter Mode : 20%

The aforementioned numbers can be divided by 5 if a player instructs their clone to hide. This option is particularly useful in crowded levels where many hostile clones might be present. Even if a clone is evolving using the stealth mode and has been instructed to hide, its chances of meeting other clones are not null.

Players willing to avoid PvP can upgrade the Electromagnetic jammer, a module designed to further reduce the chances of PvP encounters.

The probability of meeting another clone follows the same logic as encountering enemies (see the Exploration section). Briefly, once every round (a round defined as 10-second intervals), the clone has a chance to spot another clone running on the same level. Since a level contains multiple rounds, it is possible to spot several clones per level.

Fights rules :

  • For each clone, a fight has two possible outcomes: victory or defeat.

  • In the case of a win, the winner steals as many items as they can from the loser's backpack.

  • The number of items stolen depends on i) how much free space the winner has in their backpack and ii) how many items the loser has in their backpack.

  • If the winner's backpack is full or if the loser's backpack is empty, no items will be stolen.

  • The defeated clone escapes to recover.

  • Items stored in safe pockets cannot be stolen.

  • Items brought in mission (consumables, extra gears etc.) cannot be stolen but get destroyed in defeated cases.

Watch out ! Allocated items can be destroy in lost battle ! You will loose your NFT in this case !
